The Provincial Veterinarian's Office-Iloilo Rabies Control team and the Leganes Municipal Agriculture Office met with barangay officials from Cari Mayor and Cagamutan Norte, Leganes to address recent reports of canine rabies in their barangays.
The discussion focused on the critical need for effective control measures and the vital role of community involvement in preventing the disease's spread.
The PVO team stressed the importance of immediate action to stop rabies transmission and achieve the goal of a rabies-free province by 2030.
As part of their commitment, the PVO team announced plans for the re-vaccination of dogs, set to take place in the first week of August 2024.
Additionally, barangay officials were encouraged to revisit and review their Barangay Rabies Control Ordinances to enhance the enforcement of rabies control measures.
