Residents of Anilao and Banate are set to benefit from safer roads and more energy-efficient public facilities following the rollout of solar-powered infrastructure projects under the Iloilo Provincial Government’s Environmental Engineering Program on Solar Panels and Streetlights Installation.
Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., together with Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO) chief Cesar Emmanuelle Buyco Jr., led the turnover of P1 million worth of renewable energy projects for each site as part of the province’s continuing push for sustainable and climate-resilient development.
Banate mayor Peter Paul Gonzales personally received the funding for the Municipal Recovery Facility or Solid Waste Management Center in Barangay Merced which will be powered through solar energy systems aimed at improving operations while lowering electricity costs.
In Anilao, solar streetlights will be installed along the Barangay Poblacion-Pansalan road to improve nighttime visibility, enhance road safety, and provide added security for motorists and residents.
The initiative underscores Iloilo’s commitment to cleaner energy solutions and environment friendly infrastructure that improve public services and the quality of life in local communities.
