The Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Provincial Population Office, has opened its second completed Family and Youth Development Center (FYDC).
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the inauguration and turnover of the FYDC in the Municipality of Lemery today, June 18, 2026.
The P5 million two-storey facility is dedicated to ensure that our youth are nurtured and our families are empowered. The first completed facility was in the municipality of Igbaras in the First District.
Provincial Population Officer Atty. Ruel Von Superio said an additional of 24 FYDCs are currently under construction as the provincial government targets to establish this dedicated facility to its 43 local government units.
“Governor Defensor has invested P130 million for our FYDCs… Through this, we aim to strengthen our network and intensify our collaborative efforts in addressing identified gaps and promoting the development, welfare and empowerment of the families and youth,” Superio said.
Governor Defensor expressed pride in the initiative, noting that Iloilo is pioneering this project nationwide.
He also emphasized that the FYDC will serve a holistic purpose, particularly housing mental health services under the province’s PRIME (Program for the Resilience of Iloilo in Mind and Emotion) initiative.
Today’s event was attended by Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque, municipal officials led by Mayor Oscar Villegas Jr. and Vice Mayor Lowen Arban, barangay officials, and representatives from the Department of Education and Sangguniang Kabataan.
