MINA YOUTH GETS NEW SAFE SPACE

The future just got a whole lot brighter for the students of Mina National High School with the completion of the Teen Center 2.0 which is a dedicated sanctuary to nurture their mental health, talents, and overall well-being.

Yesterday, Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the inauguration and turnover of the Mina HILLSIDE Teen Center, the 8th completed building under the Teen Center 2.0 program of the Provincial Population Office.

Moving beyond the traditional counseling office, the Teen Center 2.0 is equipped to be a “home away from home” where students can access peer support, mental health programs, and life skills. This flagship project provides a modern, supportive, and creative sanctuary for the Ilonggo youth.

The P3.5 million facility is a centerpiece of Defensor’s Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya (BES PROBINS) Program and is an "upgraded" version of the province’s long-standing school-based multi-purpose teen centers.

Hazel S. Adventura, one of the Teen Center Coordinators, thanked the provincial government for providing them with a facility that will serve as a nerve center for all their programs for adolescents.

“Nagapasalamat gid kami especially kay Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. kag sa Iloilo provincial government kay dako guid ang nabulig sang pag-establish sang ini nga teen center…This project of the provincial government is really helpful for us kay madamo na gid ang amon nabuligan nga mga kabataan,” Adventura said.

Julia Grace Pastolero, Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) president, also thanked Governor Defensor for showing concern to the pressing issues faced by the youth.

Meanwhile, the event was also attended by Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque, Mayor Rey Grabato, Vice Mayor John Michael Defensor, Provincial Population Officer Atty. Ruel Von Superio, the municipal officials of Mina, and DepEd representatives who expressed their full support to the new facility.
