The Iloilo provincial government purchased 10 additional dump trucks to be used in the concreting and maintenance of provincial and farm-to-market roads. Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the blessing of the brand new vehicles on September 3, 2020 at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Grounds. Each unit costs P4.7 million. They will augment the existing truck teams that attend to provincial and barangay roads. “We are now doing an inventory of the remaining unpaved provincial roads,” he said.
In the meantime, Defensor said the trucks will be temporarily used to fetch the returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and locally-stranded individuals (LSIs). A shell and car seats will be installed at the back to provide comfort to the passengers. Defensor said it is an ideal transport vehicle because it is open and has a large space fit for social distancing. The governor recognized that the province lacks vehicles to transport returning Ilonggos back to their municipalities. (LHC/Capitol news)
Father Gremar Lacson officiated the blessing of the 10 brand new dumptrucks acquired by Iloilo province. Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr. said the dumptrucks will augment the existing provincial truck teams which are tasked to maintain the provincial roads. The UD dumptrucks cost PhP4.7 million each.
Meanwhile, Gov. Defensor said some of the dumptrucks will be temporarily used as transport vehicle for incoming locally stranded individuals (LSIs). A canopy or covering will be installed on the back of the dumptruck that will be used for the said purpose. The governor thought of the idea because the province lack transport vehicles that can carry more passengers for its COVID-19.
