Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. was tested negative of the coronavirus after swab sampling was done on him over the weekend. Defensor submitted himself to a real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) test while on quarantine. He stayed in his office during the weekend after receiving reports that a Capitol employee was tested positive of the coronavirus.
The Capitol employee, a 30-year-old male, is asymptomatic and is now in a quarantine facility in Iloilo City. Defensor had earlier ordered a two-day holiday for Iloilo Provincial Capitol employees as disinfection of the building and the Casa Real was set August 3 and 4. Some Capitol offices will be allowed to re-open on August 5 subject to the recommendations of health officials.
