The Iloilo Provincial Government headed by Gov. Arthur R. Defensor Jr., through its Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office under the leadership of Sarah M. Barayuga in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development with its Regional Director Atty. Carmelo N. Nochete conducted a one-day Food for Training activity in 11 municipalities in the province of Iloilo.

These LGUS are Badiangan, Ajuy, Concepcion, Banate, Tubungan, Pavia, San Miguel, Guimbal, Oton, Lemery, and Carles.

2023 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit Awards Finalist

The Province of Iloilo was among the finalists for the 2023 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit Awards by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The province will be judged based on the four criteria namely fast-tracking sustainable local economic development; ease of doing business; investment promotion; and enhancing sectoral competitiveness.

According to the PCCI, the award aims to highlight LGU innovations, and success stories that enable businesses to thrive and become sustainable and competitive in partnership with the private sector.

Election Paraphernalia For 2023 BSKE

The Office of the Provincial Treasurer has started the distribution of election paraphernalia classified as non-accountable forms to the 42 municipalities of the province of Iloilo in line with the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on October 30, 2023.

The local treasurer acts as a member of the Municipal Board of Canvassers and takes custody and storage of election forms, ballot boxes, paraphernalia, supplies and materials entrusted by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

Checks For Additional Teen Centers

Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr. released checks for the establishment of three additional teen centers in northern Iloilo towns: Roberto H. Tirol High School, Brgy. Bacjawan Sur, Concepcion - Php 466.350; San Luis National High School, Brgy. San Luis, Sara - Php 403,800; and Pili National High School, Brgy. Pili, Ajuy - Php 384,900.

Province-Wide Calamity Response Operations Simulation Exercises

This morning, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) led a Province-wide Calamity Response Operations Simulation Exercise, joined by Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils, PDRRMC member agencies/offices, and dedicated volunteer groups and response teams.

The simulation was an invaluable opportunity to assess the preparedness measures and response capabilities of LDRRMCs, PDRRMC member agencies/offices, volunteer groups and response teams during disasters.

Rice Retailers Cash Assistance

82 micro rice retailers in the province of Iloilo received their Php 15,000 cash assistance from the national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development and Department of Trade and Industry at the Casa Real Social Hall this afternoon.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias represented Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr. in the distribution.

The cash assistance is in response to the implementation of Executive Order No. 39 putting a price ceiling on the prices of regular milled and well-milled rice to Php 41.00 and Php 45.00, respectively.

Iloilo Province Completes 53 ELCAC Projects

The Iloilo provincial government has completed the implementation of 53 infrastructure projects amounting to P242.438 million under the Local Government Support Fund - Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

Provincial Engineer Romeo Andig said the Province of Iloilo was allotted P720 million in 2021 for ELCAC projects.

“An amount of P634.060 million was intended for 123 infrastructure projects while the remaining P85.490 million went to capacity development projects,” Andig said.
