Soap-Making Skills Open Livelihood Path For CICL

SOAP MAKING SKILLS OPEN LIVELIHOOD PATH FOR CICL

Children in conflict with the law (CICL) at Balay Pagbag-o are being given more than rehabilitation. They are being equipped with practical skills that could help them build a productive future.

The Provincial Cooperatives Development Office Iloilo , through the Iloilo Technology and Livelihood Development Center (ITLDC), partnered with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO Province Of Iloilo) to conduct a soap-making training for CICL under the Balay Pagbag-o program.

The hands-on training introduced participants to soap and candle making, giving them practical knowledge that can potentially be developed into livelihood or small entrepreneurial activities.

Beyond learning how to make products, the activity provided the participants with an opportunity to develop confidence, creativity, self-reliance, and skills that can help them prepare for their eventual return and reintegration into their communities.

For the participants, the training offers a concrete alternative by turning newly acquired skills into productive activities that could eventually provide income and reduce their vulnerability to returning to situations that may put them at risk.

The initiative also supports the rehabilitation objectives of Balay Pagbag-o by helping CICL discover their capabilities and giving them opportunities to learn skills they can use beyond the rehabilitation facility.
