The Iloilo Provincial Government with various offices led by Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias, recently met with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to discuss initiatives aimed at enhancing climate resilience and sustainability in the province’s rice sector.
As the private partner of the British Embassy in implementing the Philippine National Adaptation Plan (PNAP), BCG presented their plans to expand support to Iloilo. The discussion focused on identifying high-impact adaptation investments, developing water-resilient practices, and integrating innovative projects such as rice and aquaculture systems, watershed restoration, and micro-irrigation infrastructure.
Insights were also shared from BCG’s climate-adaptive sugar value chain project in Negros Occidental, which they aim to replicate in Iloilo but with Iloilo's rice sector. Recognized as one of the country’s top rice producers and a high-exposure province to climate risks, Iloilo is poised to benefit significantly from this partnership, aligning efforts with local stakeholders to promote sustainability and resilience. / (LEDIP Center Iloilo Province)
