The Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force nabbed two individuals on May 10, 20226 onboard an unnamed fishing boat engaging in dynamite fishing along the municipal waters of Carles.
The arrested individuals were identified as Jelord Bacolod and Regie Espinosa, both residents of Masbate City.
They are currently held under the custody of the Carles Municipal Police and were apprised of their rights under the Miranda doctrine and Anti-Torture Law
The fishing boat, classified as a municipal fishing boat, including its paraphernalia were estimated to cost P100,000.
Also recovered was one tub of Lethrinus harak, locally known as Kilawan, worth P15,000.
The Iloilo provincial government continues with the crackdown of illegal fishing activities to strengthen the protection of the Visayan Sea and its local marine resources.
