Women employees of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol were equipped with practical skills on personal safety, confidence-building, and emergency response during the “She Defends: Confidence and Self-Defense” lecture and demonstration spearheaded by the Provincial Gender and Development (GAD) Unit GADIloilo as part of the Women’s Month celebration.
Participants learned situational awareness, basic defensive moves, and strategies to de-escalate unsafe encounters, which are skills that are increasingly relevant in both workplace and community settings.
Instructors from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office led the safety tips and basic self-defense demonstrations, ensuring that the techniques shared were practical, easy to apply, and grounded in real-world scenarios.
A Basic Life Support orientation and demonstration from the Provincial Health Office also equipped participants with essential life-saving skills such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and proper emergency response.
