Members of the Provincial Council Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (PCAT-VAWC) and the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC) convened for their 2nd Quarter Joint Meeting on June 25, 2026, at Hotel Del Rio, Molo, Iloilo City.
Acting Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Head Rani Melvi Cuarte served as the presiding officer during the meeting which gathered council members and partner agencies to discuss key child protection and welfare initiatives in the province.
Among the highlights of the PCAT-VAWC meeting was the presentation and deliberation of the proposed Provincial Ordinance addressing Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM).
The council likewise endorsed a proposed Joint Resolution Series of 2026 recommending the prohibition of harmful interactive online applications in schools and the strengthening of child protection measures through the orientation and deployment of security personnel in public and private educational institutions in the Province of Iloilo. The resolution will be finalized and forwarded to the appropriate authorities for consideration and adoption.
Meanwhile the PCPC meeting focused on the presentation of the results of the Council for the Welfare of Children’s review of the Provincial Local Code for Children. The council also approved the creation of a Technical Working group (TWG) tasked with drafting and finalizing the Provincial Local Code for Children. Updates on the Provincial Development Plan for Children were likewise presented and discussed.
The joint meeting underscored the Iloilo Provincial Government’s continued commitment to safeguarding the rights, welfare and protection of children, as well as combating trafficking, violence and exploitation in all forms through responsive policies, programs and collaborative governance.
