The Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas Region VI headed by Regional Director Robert L. Uy will hold a Coaches Clinic Level 2 for Western Visayas coaches on September 2 to 4, 2022 at the Western Institute of Technology STS gym, RTS campus.
The clinic is led by nine-time PBA champion coach Jong Uichico, head of SBP Coaches Academy and assistant coach of Gilas Men's Team.
“For those that are existing coaches that want to become basketball coaches are invited to register in this clinic.
It will be suitable for the grassroots coaches because what we will be teaching will be applicable to all levels of coaching from grade school to high school to college,” Uichico told the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Press Corps.
Uichico sought the support of Ilonggos in the upcoming matches of the national basketball team.
“To the Ilonggos, we ask your support, I personally ask your support for the Gilas program, for the Gilas Team in the upcoming Window, especially the upcoming World Cup 2023 where we will represent the Philippines in a world stage competition,” he said.
On Friday, the SBP delegates paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.
Sports Development Officer IV Ray Cabarles accompanied them.
The governor received an official Gilas Team t-shirt as a token of appreciation.
Governor Defensor mentioned to the coaching team the plan of the province to develop the Iloilo Sports Complex as a world-class sports hub that could cater to international games.
In fact, the development of the province-run sports facility is in the offing and is now being prioritized for a public-private partnership (PPP) project.
