Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) officials, led by Undersecretary Leandro Angelo Y. Aguirre and Assistant Secretary Celine Dee, together with DICT Region 6 officials, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. this afternoon.
During the meeting, Usec. Aguirre informed Gov. Defensor that DICT is set to turn over laptops to the municipalities of Janiuay, Cabatuan, and Badiangan as part of its program to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Gov. Defensor expressed his commitment to extend support to the initiative and, in turn, sought collaboration with DICT for the province’s mental health program through the launching of a hotline scheduled next week. He also raised concerns on internet connectivity challenges, particularly in rural areas.
The DICT officials are in Iloilo to grace the first Lakbay Likha: Digital Creative Roadshow being held at Diversion 21 Hotel.
Joining Gov. Defensor in the discussions were the heads of the Information and Communications Technology Office, Local Economic Investment and Development Office, and Social Welfare and Development Office. Provincial Administrator Raul Banias and Cabatuan Mayor Elizalde Pueyo later joined the meeting.
