To support Iloilo’s growing digital economy, the Iloilo Provincial Government extended its full backing for the Regional ICT Summit and Exhibition (RISE 6) organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
Speaking on behalf of Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., Provincial Administrator Raul Banias highlighted the critical role of technology and innovation in shaping the future of Iloilo Province.
Banias noted that the gathering serves as a platform to assess the region's readiness for digital jobs, particularly in the booming IT-BPM (Information Technology-Business Process Management) sector which has been a key driver of the local economy.
He also emphasized the importance of the BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and call center industries in Iloilo City, which have generated substantial employment and contributed to the province’s economic growth.
However, with Iloilo City becoming increasingly congested, the provincial government is preparing for the "migration of development" to Iloilo’s first towns which according to the provincial administrator are primed for investment and business expansion.
Banias also underscored the Iloilo Provincial Government’s commitment to developing its human capital as part of its “Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally Competitive, and Resilient” (MoRPRoGRes) Province of Iloilo development agenda by reducing learning poverty and equipping the workforce with the skills necessary to thrive in a digital economy.
The Iloilo Provincial Government’s support for RISE 6 reflects its broader mission of promoting inclusive and sustainable growth throughout the region.
By prioritizing digital ecosystems, the province seeks to ensure that technological advancements benefit not only urban centers but also rural communities.
The summit brought together key industry leaders, investors, and government officials.
The event underscored the region's commitment to fostering a robust digital ecosystem, aligned with the summit’s theme: ‘Empower, Connect, Innovate’.
