Department of Agriculture – Western Visayas Regional Director Dennis Arpia, together with his key personnel and the Provincial Agriculture Office team led by acting head Felina Grace Basco, met with Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. this morning to discuss measures to strengthen rice production in Iloilo Province.
The meeting focused on aligning programs between the DA and the provincial government to ensure efficient implementation and synchronization. Governor Defensor emphasized that the province continues to extend support to farmers under his Executive Order No. 40, the “SiPag at TiyaGa (Siguradong Pagkain, Tiyak na Galing-Kalusugan) for MoRProGRes sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
This Executive Order adopts a whole-of-government approach to boost agricultural productivity and ultimately make rice more affordable for vulnerable sectors. Subsequent meetings will be convened with the province’s mayors to concretize plans and programs for implementation.
