CAPITOL ROLLS OUT PROVINCE WIDE REKORIDA CAMPAIGN VS DENGUE

The Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Iloilo Provincial Health Office and in partnership with USWAG Ilonggo Partylist, has launched an intensified Rekorida awareness campaign against dengue as part of the Dengue Awareness Month and in observance of ASEAN Dengue Day.

The campaign officially kicked off in the Municipality of Calinog on June 20, marking the start of a province-wide community engagement drive aimed at educating residents on dengue prevention and outbreak response.

The “rekorida”, a traditional public announcement system using roving vehicles with loudspeakers, serves as a grassroots communication tool, bringing vital health messages straight to homes, barangays, and town centers.

During the campaign, a specially composed dengue prevention jingle will also be played to reinforce key reminders in an engaging and easy-to-remember format.

The PHO emphasized that community participation remains a powerful defense against the spread of dengue, especially during the rainy season when dengue cases traditionally rise.

As the rekorida travels across municipalities in the coming days, the Capitol encourages residents to listen, learn, and act. With strengthened partnerships and community vigilance, the province moves one step closer to its goal of a dengue-free Iloilo.
