Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. is calling for an emergency meeting with the Department of Energy, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines and the power sector on January 4, 2024 to discuss the ongoing unscheduled power outage in the province of Iloilo and the entire Panay Island.
The governor said Sec. Raphael Perpetuo M. Lotilla has confirmed to attend the meeting which will be held via Zoom at 9AM.
The governor also invited the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC), MORE Electric and Power Corp., and the three Iloilo Electric Cooperatives.
The meeting will also be attended by the city and municipal mayors as well as other leaders in Iloilo City and Panay.
“We are in a crisis mode. That is why we are here. We are monitoring, we want to declare, we want to treat the situation as under crisis because we are under crisis,” the governor said in a media interview.
Defensor said the Provincial Civil Defense Cluster is monitoring the situation and will execute the necessary protocols to mitigate the effects of the power crisis. (Capitol News)
