Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the distribution of checks worth P65,000 each to six rebel returnees who decided to go back to the folds of the government.
The cash assistance is under the Enhanced Comprehensive Livelihood Assistance Program (E-CLIP) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government which aims to help the beneficiaries return to their normal lives and to the society as a whole.
Each recipient received P65,000, of which P50,000 is intended to help them build a livelihood while P15,000 is an immediate aid.
The beneficiaries are from the towns of Janiuay, Tubungan, Maasin, and Miagao.
The distribution was made during the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) Fourth Quarter Meeting today at the DILG VI Regional Office.
