Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. has officially accepted today a check worth P344.2 million, on behalf of the province of Iloilo.
This substantial funding is part of the "Bawat Barangay Makikinabang" Program of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. through the Socio-Civil Projects Fund (SCPF).
The distribution was held today during the Liga ng mga Barangay 2026 National Congress at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
The amount will be equally distributed to the 1,721 barangays in the province, each receiving P200,000.
Half of the grant will fund scholarship grants benefiting five senior or graduating college students per barangay. The remaining P100,000 will be channeled for grassroots developmental projects.
Joining the governor in receiving the check are League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Iloilo Chapter President Mayor Suzette Mamon, Liga ng mga Barangay Iloilo Provincial Federation President Amalia Debuque, Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Dennis Ventilacion, Provincial Treasurer Jean Maire Umadhay, and Head Executive Assistant to the Governor Atty. Ruel Von Superio.
