The Province of Iloilo officially received two new Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) under its Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles led the ceremonial turnover today, June 24, 2026, at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol. Gov. Defensor Jr. accepted the donation on behalf of the provincial government. Each unit costs P2.139 million.
Other Western Visayas provinces also benefited from the initiative. The provinces of Antique, Capiz, and Guimaras received two units each, while Negros Occidental from the Negros Island Region received one. Accepting the vehicles for their respective provinces were Gov. Paolo Everado Javier (Antique), Gov. Fredenil Castro (Capiz), and Gov. Ma. Lucille Nava (Guimaras).
Another highlight of the event is the distribution of lotto revenue shares to the Province and City of Iloilo, as mandated by Executive Order No. 357-A.
The province got P656,693.28 while the city received P1,287,475.54. Jay Treñas, Executive Assistant of Mayor Raisa Treñas received the check on behalf of Iloilo City.
The LGU shares from PCSO lotto revenues are earmarked to fund priority programs, specifically on healthcare and social services.
Governor Defensor thanked Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the PCSO for the donation which could boost the province’s healthcare system. Defensor also looks forward to future areas of collaboration with the PCSO.
Meanwhile, Melquiades said the assistance is a testament to the national government and the local government working together for the welfare of the people, ensuring that health services are now more accessible.
