Core trainers from the Department of Education–Division of Iloilo for Oral Graphic Symbolic Language (OGSL) attended this morning’s Capitol Flag Raising Ceremony, where they were welcomed by Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., ahead of their Training of Trainers (TOT) for school heads and Public Schools District Supervisors (PSDS) scheduled on August 10–15, 2026.
The trainers will serve as technical experts in teaching reading through the OGSL method under BES BASA: Proof of Concept (POC) Localization Program, the province’s flagship education initiative.
The training will bring together more than 470 school heads and Public Schools District Supervisors (PSDS) from the 3rd and 4th batches representing the 17 local government units enrolled in the program.
It forms part of the province’s continuing capacity-building efforts to strengthen the delivery of evidence-based reading interventions.
Through the TOT, the province is building a pool of competent local trainers who will coach and mentor school heads and teachers, helping sustain the gains of BES BASA and ensuring that more learners receive quality literacy support and develop strong foundational reading skills.
