Children in Barangay Aglonok were given the gift of stories, learning, and hope as the Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives joined the 12th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army’s Peace Reconciliation Program.
While soldiers and medical teams tended to residents’ health needs, the library team, led by Librarian III Sharon Gigante, RL, filled the day with engaging storytelling sessions, interactive literacy games, and the distribution of books under the DepEd Library Hub program.
Aimed at enriching the learning experience of children in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs), the initiative provided not only reading materials but also school supplies to support their education.
The personalized approach to storytelling and literacy activities ensured that the content resonated with the young learners, sparking curiosity and a love for reading.
The Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives continues to welcome book donations year-round, ensuring more communities like Aglonok have access to the tools and inspiration they need to learn and grow.
