Two flagship programs of the Iloilo Provincial Government are being subjected to Galing Pook Awards National On-Site Validation, highlighting the province’s efforts to strengthen youth development and foundational education through collaborative, data-driven governance.
Project Tib-ong Kabataan is undergoing validation this week, with the program presented to evaluators from the Galing Pook National Selection Committee.
Another Galing Pook team will conduct the on-site validation of BES BASA: Proof of Concept (POC) Localization this weekend.
Galing Pook’s validation examines programs’ implementation, results and impact, including community participation, innovation, sustainability, resilience, efficiency, and potential for replication.
“Tib-ong,” meaning to uplift in Ilonggo, brings together provincial offices, health workers, DepEd-Iloilo, Sangguniang Kabataan leaders, and other partners to address adolescent concerns such as teenage pregnancy and mental health, while promoting safe spaces and opportunities for young people.
Meanwhile, BES BASA: POC Localization seeks to improve reading proficiency through a localized Proof of Concept approach involving the Provincial Government, DepEd-Iloilo, LGUs, school leaders, teachers, and other partners.
The twin validations give Iloilo an opportunity to demonstrate how people-centered and evidence-based governance can produce measurable results in two critical areas including youth well-being and children’s foundational learning.
The Province previously earned Galing Pook recognition for its “Zero to Limpyo Iloilo: Movement for a Province-wide ZOD,” which was among the organization’s 2023 awardees.
