IPG JOINS LGU SARA FOR LANDMARK EDUCATION SUMMIT

The Iloilo Provincial Government joins the Municipality of Sara as the latter holds its Education Summit today.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias representing Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. expressed his gratitude for the support of Sara in the education reform program of the province.

“This is an integral part of the Education Reform program of Gov. Toto Defensor as we implement our Proof of Concept of decentralizing basic education and improving performance outcomes and the parallel BES BASA or Bulig Eskwela sang Probins Reading Program,” said Banias.

Sara Mayor Jon Onick Aying delivered a comprehensive presentation on the state of education in Sara, revealing that approximately 40% of Grade 3 learners are struggling readers.

He also issued a resonant call to action, urging all stakeholders to unite in a determined and focused effort to ensure all Grade 3 learners can read proficiently by the end of the school year 2025-2026.

The summit saw the collaboration of district school heads, principals, teachers, municipal and barangay officials, religious and civic organizations, and the youth sector.

It also featured breakout sessions and workshops facilitated by Mr. Edwin Nacionales of Synergeia.

The presence of Assistant Division Superintendent Marlon Destreza, representing DS Ernesto F. Servillon Jr., underscored the support from the Department of Education (DepEd).
