NOW HAPPENING PESO MEGA JOB FAIR

Thousands of jobseekers flocked to the Iloilo Provincial Capitol this morning to participate in the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Mega Job Fair.

Around 18,000 job vacancies from 98 employers were made available to applicants.

Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. officially opened the job fair, which will run until 4 p.m. today.

PESO Manager Dr. Cynthia Dario expressed gratitude for the support of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the local government units (LGUs) in organizing the event.

Fifteen LGUs in the provinceโ€”namely Guimbal, Balasan, Pototan, Barotac Viejo, Banate, Alimodian, Sara, Santa Barbara, San Miguel, Zarraga, Igbaras, Tigbauan, Badiangan, Estancia, and Carlesโ€”provided Libre Sakay (free transportation) for their constituents traveling to the Provincial Capitol.

Dario also noted that several government agencies set up help desks to assist the public, including DOLE, the Department of Migrant Workers, the Philippine Statistics Authority, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Social Security System, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the National Bureau of Investigation, PhilHealth, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

DOLE Iloilo head Dr. Arlyn Siaotong, representing DOLE-6 Regional Director Atty. Sixto Brillantes, lauded the Iloilo Provincial Government through Gov. Defensor and PESO Manager Dr. Dario for holding the mega job fair, which she said would greatly benefit jobseekers.

Also present to show support to the activity are Provincial Administrator Raul Banias and First District Board Member Jo Ann Germinanda.
