The Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force apprehended four fishermen engaging in dynamite fishing in the vicinity of Bukot Island, Brgy. Taloto-an, Concepcion on February 20, 2024.
The fishing vessel was manned by a pilot and three crews. It was equipped with one unit 4DR5 diesel engine (Mitsubishi); one unit shafting; one unit propeller; one unit rudder; one unit air compressor; three rolls of compressor hose at 40 fathoms length each hose; six pieces improvised clippers; three pieces diving goggles; three scope net; and one unit fish finder Garmin brand.
A total of 20 kilograms of assorted suspected dynamite fish amounting to more or less P3,000 were also seized.
The fishermen were apprehended for violation of Section 92 of Republic Act 8550 or The Philippine Fisheries Code, as amended by Republic Act 10654 and were brought to Concepcion Municipal Police Station.
The confiscated items are presently under the custody of the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force while the fish samples were submitted to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources for scientific examination.
