CAPITOL TO REHABILITATE LUMPATAN ROCK TRAIL

The Iloilo Provincial Government is rehabilitating the Lumpatan Rock Trail in Barangay Macatunao, Concepcion.

Lumpatan Rock boasts of its peculiar and beautiful rock formation and is a popular destination in Pan de Azucar Island.

The trail was constructed 20 years ago as part of the 3rd cycle of the KALAHI CIDSS, a Community Driven Development project of DSWD. It was damaged last year due to the intense pounding of waves triggered by the Shear Line.

On April 21, Provincial Administrator Raul Banias led a team from the Office of the Provincial Tourism Officer, Office of the Provincial Engineer, and Office of the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office to inspect the area.

The restoration will cover the construction of public rest area and comfort rooms. A water supply system will also be installed.

This initiative is part of the provincial government’s move to develop the Pan de Azucar Island as an eco-tourism destination under its Turista sa Barangay program.

The goal is to transform the island as a premier tourist destination and at the same time create sustainable economic activities to benefit the residents.

Pan de Azucar Island is composed of Barangays Talototan, Macatunao, and Tambaliza.
