The Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, together with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region VI, conducted a field validation on July 14, 2026, in Barangays Inangayan and Bolong Oeste, Municipality of Santa Barbara, as part of the requested Site-Specific Geohazard Assessment of the Iloilo Government Center and the flood-prone communities along the Mali-ao Creek System.
The activity was participated in by representatives from the Office of the Provincial Engineer, Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Sta. Barbara, barangay officials, and community representatives.
During the field validation, the MGB technical team verified the location of the Mali-ao Creek System and the government center, assessed existing site conditions, and gathered historical flood information from local officials and residents.
The data gathered will support the preparation of an MGB Technical Certification, which will serve as the basis for evidence-based disaster risk reduction planning, the implementation of the proposed Purok Resilience Program for Vulnerable Communities, and other appropriate flood risk reduction interventions.
