The Iloilo provincial government marked Arbor Day with the simultaneous planting of more than 10,000 trees province-wide.
The activity is participated by 2,505 Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs) who will be planting four seedlings each to help revitalize the environment.
It was spearheaded by the Federation of Iloilo Provincial Point Officers (FIPSPO) Inc. and the Office of the Provincial Population Officer.
The species varies from mangroves, indigenous trees and fruit-bearing trees.
This activity is part of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.’s “Tanum Iloilo” program dedicated to restoring Iloilo’s forest cover.
