TAPON TO IPON COLLECTION HUBS

Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc. (CCBPI) in collaboration with the Iloilo Provincial Government through the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO) and the LGU - Pavia officially launched the “Tapon to Ipon” Collection Hubs at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol lobby this morning.

The Tapon to Ipon Project aims to collect clear PET bottles of any brand as identified by its tagline “Basta Klaro, Panalo!” through the collection hubs scattered in 20 stores in Pavia and one at the Provincial Capitol. Clear PET bottles will be collected and recycled at the Coca-Cola PET Value Facility.

Initially, Dir. Kenneth Deslate, Commercial Unit Director of Coca-Cola Iloilo Plant, said every kilogram of PET bottles collected would be exchanged with any available Coke products.

The project is in support of the government’s solid waste management program and the global environmental campaign World Without Waste.

Iloilo province is the first province in the Visayas area that partnered with Coca-Cola for the project.

Recycled PET bottles would be used by CCBPI for its various products and also by other companies.

Deslate said that their company aims that by the year 2030, every bottle of Coke would already be made of recycled PET bottles.

Messages of commitment and support were given by Gov. Arthur R. Defensor, Jr., PGENRO chief Atty. Cesar Emmanuelle Buyco, Jr., and Pavia Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) chief Engr. Jolepe Suerte.
