Members of the Provincial Gender and Development Technical Working Group (GAD TWG) met with Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque earlier today to request her inclusion in the province’s Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) as alternate chairperson, a move expected to further strengthen the implementation of gender-responsive programs and services in Iloilo.
During the meeting, the GAD TWG presented the province’s proposed Gender and Development activities for 2026, including a series of programs and advocacy events lined up for the Women’s Month celebration in March.
Debuque welcomed the proposal and expressed her full support for the province’s GAD agenda, committing not only to help mainstream gender and development concerns in policy formulation but also to help ensure that the provincial GAD agenda is effectively implemented across offices and programs.
The Vice Governor’s participation in the GFPS is expected to strengthen coordination among provincial offices, improve monitoring and implementation of programs, and translate policies into concrete interventions that directly benefit women and other vulnerable sectors.
