In light of the ongoing dengue outbreak, the Iloilo Provincial Government through the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO) has intensified its efforts to combat rising dengue cases across various municipalities in the province, focusing on preventive measures and community engagement.
The IPHO conducted dengue monitoring and advocacy sessions in barangays of Banate, Lambunao, Santa Barbara, Leon, Barotac Nuevo, Pavia, and Alimodian, stressing the importance of the 4 o'clock habit and the 4S strategyβSearch and Destroy mosquito breeding sites, Secure Self Protection, Seek Early Consultation, and Say Yes to Fogging and Spraying.
These initiatives carried out in partnership with local health workers and officials, aim to involve the community in proactive dengue prevention.
Key activities included inspecting dengue facilities, conducting misting operations, distributing Olyset nets, providing technical assistance to health workers, and holding advocacy sessions for barangay officials.
On August 15, 2024, Β Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. issued an executive order outlining protocols and guidelines designed to improve patient care and optimize the operations of health facilities.
