Last year, the Province of Iloilo once again faced a serious dengue threat. Early surveillance data pointed to a possible outbreak, with projected cases reaching as high as 21,000—comparable to the devastating 2019 surge that overwhelmed our healthcare system, from our Rural Health Units (RHUs) to our hospitals.
However, through the proactive leadership of Governor Arthur R. Defensor Jr., the swift and coordinated actions of the Provincial Dengue Task Force, and the strong cooperation of our municipal and barangay leaders in implementing both provincial strategies and localized initiatives, we successfully controlled the situation.
Together, we brought down our 2025 dengue cases to 5,700- significantly lower than earlier projections and a testament to what unified action can achieve.
To recognize the dedication and commitment of our local communities, Governor Defensor issued Executive Order No. 162, Series of 2025, granting financial incentives worth ₱5,000 to barangays that remained dengue-free as of October 2025, based on the official records of the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU). The financial incentives will be used to enhance and sustain barangay-level dengue prevention and control initiatives such as community-based vector control measures, health education campaigns, and capacity-building activities.
In total, we are proud to honor 483 dengue-free barangays across the Province of Iloilo.
The checks may now be claimed at the Provincial Treasurer’s Office, Iloilo Provincial Capitol Building, starting today until March 31, 2026.
Only the Punong Barangay or the Barangay Treasurer is authorized to claim the check, with the following requirements:
• One (1) valid ID of the authorized claimant
• Official receipt of the barangay
