ILOILO SUCCESS FAP A BLUEPRINT FOR CERVICAL CANCER PREVENTION

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Maria Socorro Quiñon shared Iloilo’s breakthrough achievements in women’s health during the 2026 Philippine National Cancer Summit in Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.

Quiñon presented the Scale-Up Cervical Cancer Elimination with Secondary Prevention Strategy - Focus on Asia Pacific (SUCCESS-FAP) project which dismantled barriers in healthcare by focusing on cervical cancer prevention in geographically-isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) in Northern Iloilo.

This initiative was implemented in collaboration with the Department of Health and the Cancer Warriors Foundation, and funded by Unitaid and Expertise France. The project brought cancer screening closer to communities and gave them access to early detection intervention.

Iloilo has provided a scalable model in the country, following its successful implementation in the municipalities of Carles, Estancia and Lemery which was replicated by other municipalities and provinces.

Dr. Quiñon was joined by Provincial Health Officer I Dr. Rodney Labis and the Non-Communicable Disease Cluster at the Summit.
