Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the groundbreaking and inauguration of major infrastructure projects totaling to P11 million at the Gawad Kalinga Village, Barangay Quinagaringan Pequeño, Passi City, Iloilo.

The governor broke ground today the three-classroom building valued at P6.3 million. Once completed, the facility will house Grades IV, V, and VI pupils, allowing them to move out of the school’s old building.

He also inaugurated two completed projects - a P3.2 million two-storey Multi-Purpose Building and a P1.5 million solar-powered water system. The first floor of the multi-purpose building is being assigned as a Child Development Center.

These major infrastructure projects are funded by the Iloilo provincial government aimed at uplifting the lives of the Passinhon.

Governor Defensor thanked the municipal and barangay officials for their collaboration leading to the completion of the project.

“We want good projects that we could be proud of…And we want to do more in Passi,” the governor said.

The event was also attended by Vice Mayor Elyzer Chavez, local officials, and representatives from the Department of Education and the Property Company of Friends, Inc. (Profriends) who is supporting the Gawad Kalinga Village.

Vice Mayor Chavez expressed his gratitude to the governor, noting that every barangay in Passi has actively benefited from the provincial government's programs and projects.

Meanwhile, Barangay Captain Errol Panadero also thanked the governor for his dedicated support for the children and the community. He highlighted that the newly established water system will directly benefit 500 of the barangay's roughly 700 residents.

"Nagapasalamat gid kami nga may ara kita gobernador nga mabinuligon, maalwan kag gintagaan kita sang proyekto," he said.
