Governor Arthur R. Defensor Jr. recently met with Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling and Senior Undersecretary Eduardo P. Robles Jr. to present the Province of Iloilo’s innovative resilient housing initiative, the Purok Resilience Program.
During the meeting, Governor Defensor highlighted the program as a strategic approach of the provincial government to provide safe, resilient, and community-based housing for vulnerable families. The discussion also focused on the augmentation and expansion of the program, including potential financial support to further scale up its implementation in the province.
For its part, DHSUD expressed its support for the initiative and pledged to provide funding assistance to the Province of Iloilo. The meeting also served as an opportunity for the provincial government to align priorities in addressing the concerns of informal settler families in Santa Barbara, Iloilo who may be affected by the development of the Iloilo Regional Government Center.
