GOVERNOR DEFENSOR INDUCTS NEW OFFICERS OF ILOILO POPULATION ASSOCIATIONS

Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. administered the oath of office for newly elected officers of the Association of Population Officers of the Province of Iloilo (APOPI) and the Federation of Iloilo Provincial Service Point Officers (FIPSPO, Inc.) in a ceremony held today at the Casa Real de Iloilo.

The joint oath-taking, facilitated by the Iloilo Provincial Population Office (PPO), underscores the commitment of both organizations to advance key initiatives in population management, responsible parenthood, reproductive health, family planning, and adolescent and youth development.

In his address, Governor Defensor emphasized population officers' critical role in supporting the province’s development programs.

“Sa aton BSPO, importante sa amon ang ubra ninyo… ang aton mga programa kag proyekto nagatindog sa datos,” the governor said, highlighting how the province’s data-driven projects depend on the work of the population officers.

Governor Defensor noted the province's extensive efforts to establish teen centres and other youth-focused programs, including Career Guidance and Voter Education, which are vital to Iloilo’s development agenda.

“That’s how important your work is,” he remarked, calling population office services one of the core functions of the Iloilo Provincial Government.

PPO Chief Ruel Von Superio likewise expressed confidence in the capabilities of the newly inducted officers, saying that the core programs, including Adolescent Health and Youth Development (AHYD), Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP), Population and Development (POPDEV), and Population Database Management (DBM), have a profound impact to the people of the province.

"Under the guidance of our Governor, we will serve well to achieve the vision of progress and overcome challenges in population management and sustainable development," added Superio.

The ceremony reaffirmed the shared purpose of these organizations to work collaboratively toward meaningful progress in population and community development throughout the province.
