The Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force, the Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the PNP Regional Intelligence Unit apprehended five fishing boats engaging in trawl fishing at Sitio Baligiuan, Barangay Malangabang, Concepcion on July 5, 2026.
The boat captains, all residents of Barangay VI-A, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, were informed of their constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine and were being placed under the custody of the Concepcion Municipal Police Station.
Meanwhile, the fishing vessels and their paraphernalia were turned over to the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force for proper disposition.
Trawling involves dragging massive nets along the seabed which destroys marine life and habitats.
