The Provincial Government of Iloilo, through the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), recognized the exemplary leadership and dedicated service of two former battalion commanders of the Philippine Army. The PPOC resolutions were formally turned over during the flag ceremony held today during the opening of the 125th Semana sang Iloilo.
Led by Gov. Arthur R. Defensor Jr., Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque, and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the PPOC resolutions were awarded to Lt. Col. Vicel Jan Garsuta, former Commander of the 12th Infantry Battalion; and Col. Arturo S. Balgos Jr., former Commander of the 61st Infantry Battalion.
PPOC Resolution No. 2025-14 was conferred upon Lt. Col. Garsuta in recognition of his outstanding leadership, which led to the successful dismantling of the Central Front, Komiteng Rehiyon–Panay of the CPP-NPA-NDF.
Meanwhile, PPOC Resolution No. 2025-16 was awarded to Col. Balgos for his significant accomplishments, including the dismantling of the Southern Front of the same organization.
Joining the provincial leadership during the awarding ceremony were the members of the PPOC and the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), including Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias and Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Dennis Ventilacion.
The recognition underscores the provincial government’s deep appreciation for the vital contributions of these officials in ensuring peace, security, and stability in Iloilo, ultimately leading to the province’s declaration as having a “stable internal peace and security situation.”
