JICA wants to collaborate with the Province of Iloilo to further the latter's sports development program.
Lara Javier, JICA Senior Program Officer, saw and admired Iloilo's sports development program and wanted to work jointly in search of sports excellence.
"As we were searching for LGU in the Philippines which has a sustainable grassroots sports development program, Iloilo caught our attention after reading some of the articles online. Then we decided to write a letter to Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr. on how we could help promote the program, Javier said.
Iloilo's sports program suits JICA's menu for sports development. Through JICA, Iloilo coaches and athletes will be receiving technical assistance from Japanese coaches in any sports Iloilo would request in 2 years. JICA will sponsor expenses for the said assistance.
