The Iloilo Provincial Government is waiting for the approval of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for its transport route plan.
The province submitted the Iloilo Provincial Public Transport Route Plan 2023-2026 to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board VI on May 26, 2023, to be transmitted to DOTr for review and comments.
Provincial Planning and Development Office chief Mr. Mario Nillos said the DOTr would conduct a series of consultations and simulations for possible revisions and improvements.
“Upon approval, the DOTr will issue a Notice of Compliance to the Governor. Then the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will enact it into a zoning ordinance. The DOTr will then issue a memorandum circular implementing the transport route plan,” Nillos said.
The planning officer said the province has started training its technical people in preparation for a dry run that will last for about one month.
The province’s three-year plan complements Iloilo City's as both LGUs are interwoven. It has 67 rationalized routes and eight new routes.
Nillos said the number of units that will be authorized in the routes will still depend on the result of the dry run.
