The Municipality of Bingawan is situated at the very heart of Panay Island. It is bounded on the North by the Municipality of Tapaz, Province of Capiz; on the Northeast by the Municipality of Dumarao, Capiz; on the South by the City of Passi, Province of Iloilo; on the Southeast by the Municipality of Calinog, Province of Iloilo– its Mother Municipality. Bingawan was created into a municipality on June 21, 1969 by virtue of R.A. 5511. It has a total land are of 8,520.8555 hectares and comprised of 14 barangay namely: Agba-o, Alabidhan, Bulabog, Cairohan, Guinhulacan, Inamyungan, Malitbog Ilawod, Malitbog Ilaya, Ngingi-an, Poblacion, Quinangyana, Quinar-upan, Tapacon and Tubod.
